This list of 137 accronyms was compiled in less than an hour from the documents I had been reading while researching BIM processes, standards and procedures. I know it isn't complete and really doesn't even touch on the international community because I was researching US BIM specific issues. There are a couple of technolgy related items here, but your head would really spin if I put in all the computer and network acronyms too. If you have any you would like to add leave it in the comment section.

A long time ago I was working very hard as a new intern architect, while trying to expand my technical skills at the same time and studying to learn about POTS, PSTN and ISDN telephone systems, creating a network for our computer systems, Linux operating systems, and CAD customiation, I went on an interview to see if there were any new oportunities for me.  I didn't get the job as CAD manager.  I have always wondered if it was because they weren't confident that I knew anything when I drew a blank at this question.  "Are you familiar with NCS?"

Considering that I had been staying up late to learn about EIDE and SCSI drives, RJ11 and RJ45 connections, networking protocols, TCP/IP, IEEE standards, etc.  I thought I answered pretty well.  "I am familiar with it, but I haven't ever used one."
